Animation has a long and exciting history in the creative arts. Animation is the creation of moving pictures by recording a timed sequence of still images, drawings, objects, cartoon figures or people in various positions of incremental movement. When played back these still pictures no longer appear as static images but combine to produce the illusion of unfettered motion. Animation applies to anything on film, video, or computers, and even flipbooks of drawings, where a series of drawings or photographs on paper are then viewed with a mechanical device.
As you are pursuing your animation degree, you will learn everything from how to create a still image of a cartoon characters to actually creating a motion picture using the latest in animation software. With an animation degree you will be an artist working out how these images or cartoon characters move and helping or even organizing the production of the finished motion pictures.
